Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement members are disappointed with the recent approval of a $240 million pork processing facility near Eagle Grove. ICCI Organizer Erica Blair says her group is worried the approval of the Prestage Farms Pork Processing facility will mean more and larger farming operations that will bring with them pollution problems.

She says there need to be tougher regulations for large scale livestock operations to protect the state’s water.

Blair says ICCI wants Iowa state lawmakers to pass a moratorium restricting any new or expanding large scale farms or ag operations.

Blair says the moratorium needs to be in effect until Iowa has less than 100 polluted waterways.
