Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement officials say the Iowa Department of Natural Resources are recommending that the state Environmental Protection Commission deny ICCI’s petition calling for strengthening of the master matrix rules. ICCI Organizer Erica Blair says the DNR is flat out rejecting their petition.

She says the EPC will make the final decision on whether or not to strengthen the master matrix rules which govern siting of livestock operations.

Blair says a large number of the state’s residents want these rules strengthened and ICCI members will weigh in with the EPC at their upcoming meeting.

The EPC meets Monday in Des Moines at the Iowa State Capitol starting at 10 a.m.
