This week Energy Transfer Partners, the group building the Dakota Access Pipeline to ship tar sands oil from North Dakota to Illinois through South Dakota and Iowa filed a lawsuit against North Dakota protestors to their project. Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement is also protesting the project in Iowa. ICCI State Policy Director Adam Mason says he’s not concerned about the legal action and will continue opposing the pipeline.

He says they’ve filed a motion in Iowa challenging the project and will also continue peacefully protesting against the pipeline.

Mason says they’re also awaiting a court decision on their challenge to the pipeline and they’ll also be sending protestors to North Dakota to join those opposing the project.

Mason says ICCI is also working to ask Iowa state legislators to strengthen eminent domain protections for landowners.
