A Nebraska trade team led by State Agriculture Director Greg Ibach toured Bulgaria this week, after an earlier stop in Germany. Ibach says their group is prospecting for Nebraska business rather than signing deals. He says leaders of the Bulgarian Parliament expressed interest in getting assistance from Nebraska to develop their livestock and irrigation industries.
He says the Bulgarians are very interested in Nebraska soybeans as a way to meet a portion of the feed needs for their developing livestock industry.
Ibach says Bulgaria needs a large amount of soybeans they can crush to sell the products to other E.U. countries.
According to Ibach many Bulgarian processing companies are located near the Black Sea so transportation is not an obstacle for either getting product in our out of other countries.
