Nebraska senior safety Nathan Gerry has been named Big Ten defensive player of the week for his performance against Wyoming.

Gerry intercepted two passes, broke up another and made a team-high seven tackles in the Cornhuskers’ 52-17 victory on Saturday. With his two picks, he moved into the top five of Nebraska’s career interceptions list. He also became the fifth defensive back in program history to record 200 career tackles.

Monday marked the first time Gerry has won the conference’s weekly honor.
