Nebraska sophomore Tai Webster was named to New Zealand’s 14-player traveling squad Saturday night, as the team continues preparations for the FIBA World Cup in late August.

Webster, one of two teenagers on the roster, rejoined the team for the final two games of New Zealand’s series with South Korea this week. He averaged 6.0 ppg on 63 percent shooting in two games and had eight points, two steals and a pair of wins in the deciding game of the series earlier Saturday.

The team will compete in the Three Nations Tournament in Seoul, South Korea, beginning on July 29 before traveling to China, Lithuania and Serbia in August.

The final 12-member roster will be announced following the games in Serbia. Six of the 14 players on the roster have competed in previous FIBA World Cups.

Webster is the second Husker to spend the summer with his nation’s national team, as Leslee Smith competed with the British Virgin Islands team earlier this month.
