Nebraska reserve quarterback A.J. Bush has left the program having never appeared in a game in two seasons.

The third-year sophomore from Alpharetta, Georgia, had been competing in preseason practice with freshman Patrick O’Brien for the Number 3 job behind Tommy Armstrong Jr. and Ryker Fyfe.

Bush tweeted on Thursday night, “Special Shout out to my husker teammates. and everyone that has been apart (sic) of my experience here. Loved every minute of it.”

Bush was recruited out of high school powerhouse Norcross High in 2014 by the staff of former coach Bo Pelini. He had other offers from Cincinnati, Kansas State, Toledo, Troy and Georgia State.
