Hurricane Harvey Delaying Export Shipments

The main concern for shippers of soybeans and corn from the U.S. to export markets is the Harvey Storm impacts in Louisiana. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says delays are likely but he’s hoping they’ll be short lived.

He says his group is watching closely what happens with Harvey in Louisiana.

Steenhoek says most of Harvey’s impacts have been on the Texas Gulf which mostly effects wheat exports.

Steenhoek says storms like Harvey this year and Katrina twelve years ago can have a major negative effect on farmer profitability.
