South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard officially delivered his budget proposal to the legislature yesterday.

The plan would spend about four point three billion dollars overall, with about forty nine million dollars in new spending. The budget also calls for a two percent increase in education funding, and a two percent raise for state employees.

Senator-elect Bernie Hunhoff of Yankton says education still has not recovered from the cut of 2011…

The Governor said sales tax revenues were not as strong as had been budgeted. Hunhoff says legislators will have updated numbers by the time they get to the final budget in March…

Hunhoff says he is also concerned about the use of one time dollars…

Lawmakers begin the 2015 session on January 14th.
