Fairgoers got to meet the farmers that produce their food and ask them questions about farming at the Hungry for Truth Day at the Sioux Empire Fair. The event and initiative are sponsored by the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council. Chair Marc Reiner says they sponsored the concert and spent the day at the Pipestone Discovery Barn talking to consumers about what they do every day on their farms.
Reiner says Hungry for Truth Day also gave farmers the chance to connect with consumers.
He says the types of questions they get from Sioux Falls area consumers about agriculture and food production are wide ranging .
Reiner says they hope fairgoers left with a better understand of where their food comes from and the care farmers take to provide a safe product in an environmental manner.
