Hundreds of people turned out on a cold but sunny day on Tuesday in Omaha to pay their respects to Vietnam War veteran, 73 year old Stanley Stoltz, a man that most of them did not know.   Stoltz had made Bennington his home and had no known family so when Good Shepherd Funeral Home posted his obituary, they invited the public to attend the service at the Omaha National Cemetery.  That obituary received national attention.  Amy Douglas was among the many that showed up.

The funeral started ten minutes late because the cars kept coming and lined Highway 50 backing up traffic on I-80.

Douglas says it was an honor to be there.

Some family was eventually located, and Stanley’s brother attended the service.  Stoltz died in hospice care last week.
