Officials with Nestle, the world’s largest food company say they will transition to using eggs only from cage free chickens in all of their U.S. food products by 2020.  Humane Society of the United State’s Ag Director Joe Maxwell says that’s a big announcement because it means better welfare for a very large number of animals.

Nestle’s uses approximately 20 million pounds of eggs a year. Maxwell says because of that, their cage free decision will spill over to other companies and lead to a large shift in the how the chicken industry is run.

Maxwell says consumers are demanding these types of changes with the Nestle decision to go to cage free eggs. T  Cut  9  Maxwell  Cadtc   q.  in the country and across the world.:24 Seconds

Nestle Chairman and CEO Paul Grimwood says their products are in the refrigerators and pantries of socially conscious consumers across the United States who believe in the importance of responsibly sourced ingredients.
