The South Dakota Department of Social Services is working with an outside group on a strategic review of the Human Services Center in Yankton.

Department Secretary Laurie Gill says the review will give them a plan to take to the legislature…..

Gill says its part of their focus to “right size” mental health services in the state….

Gill says they want the report this fall so they can plan for the 2022 legislative session….

The Human Services Center is currently short about one hundred twenty workers and has closed four units due to that lack of staffing.
