The House Transportation and Infrastructure committee is expected to mark up the surface transportation reauthorization measure this week. It expires October 29. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says despite that, he thinks there’s enough time to get the bill passed. He says there’s enough money in the highway trust fund now that they don’t have to come up with new funding right away.
Steenhoek says they have enough time to put out their own measure or extend the present law.
He says what his group is most concerned about is the lack of leadership present in the House to aggressively move legislation forward.
Earlier the Senate passed a six year transportation bill that had three years of it funded.
