House To Discuss Country of Origin Labeling Repeal

The House is expected to discuss a possible repeal of Country of Origin Labeling. A Coalition of ag and manufacturing groups sent a letter to House members urging them to support COOL and not repeal it. Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund CEO, Bill Bullard says the process of settling the issue at the WTO is still ongoing.

Bullard says repealing COOL disrupts that process.

He says it’s up to Canada and Mexico to show that the U.S. labeling law has damaged their industries.

Bullard says it’s not wise for Canada and Mexico to start a trade war with the U.S., as they depend so heavily on U.S. markets. He says those two countries have an $ 88 billion trade surplus.
