House Panels Look at Renewable Fuels Standard

House Panels Look at Renewable Fuels Standard

A pair of House Subcommittees are holding hearings today looking at how the Renewable Fuel Standard is working. National Biodiesel Board officials will be testifying. NBB Spokesman Ben Evans says his group believes the RFS is functioning well and that’s what they’ll share with the panels.

He says the next step is for the EPA to put out new RFS volumes, likely in late May or early June.

Evans says the National Biodiesel Board is already weighing in on those volumes for advanced biofuels such as biodiesel for 2018.

Evans says right now the U.S. economy is too heavily dependent on oil prices that are set globally. He says that’s a good reason to continue the RFS.
