House members from 14 states, many in corn producing areas, have sent a letter to the EPA Administrator asking for a reduction in the renewable fuel obligation under the RFS. South Dakota Corn Grower’s Executive Director Lisa Richardson says they’ve joined NCGA and other state groups expressing disappointment with the letter.

She says many of the elected officials that signed on to the letter are being influenced by groups representing the petroleum industry.

Richardson says there is real potential to produce more corn and ethanol going forward.

Richardson says they’re waiting for the announcement expected from the EPA in just three weeks on the renewable fuel volume levels and are encouraging their members to weigh in with Congress on the issue.
