House Committee Chair Working On Transportation Bill Fix

The current legislation funding transportation expires October 29. House Ways and Means Chairman Paul Ryan is working on a long term six year fix to the bill. He wants to put in an international tax. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek is pleased Congressman Ryan and others are looking for a solution.
Steenhoek says the present system of using a fuel tax to fund the transportation legislation is a better answer especially if it’s tweaked.
He says he expects a short term measure to pass which would pass the problem into 2016.
Steenhoek says the problem with delaying a long term measure until 2016 is that not much gets done in Congress during election years and especially during presidential election years.
