Minnesota Farm Bureau President, Kevin Paap, testified in front of the House Ag Subcommittee on general farm commodities and risk management. Paap says he told the subcommittee there are several financial challenges facing farmers and ranchers.
Paap says one of the possible solutions is to increase value added opportunities for farmers and ranchers.
Paap says the most important thing lawmakers can do is assure farmers of a solid crop insurance program to help them get through their financial stresses.
Paap also told the subcommittee that there should be tools for the next generation of farmers, and the most effective one is risk management.
