House Ag Committee leaders Collin Peterson of Minnesota and Mike Conaway of Texas want USDA and the Department of Health and Human Services to put together a review process on comments received on the dietary guidelines. The lawmakers says the advisory committee exceeded their scope in developing recommendations and needs to follow science. Minnesota Cattlemen’s Association President Elect Krist Wollum says they agree with the leaders.

Wollum says a review is important because the final dietary guidelines will be far reaching.

The House Ag Committee leaders want all of the 29,000 comments to be reviewed is a transparent manner.
