On Wednesday the House Agricultural Committee hosted a review on Title VI (6) of the Farm Bill, which focuses on the USDA’s Rural Development. Title VI aids rural communities in improving rural health outcomes, this specifically includes broadband, economic development, water and waste disposal, energy, and cybersecurity. Under Secretary for Rural Development Xochitl Torres Small spoke at this review and says one focus of the department has been the expansion of meat processing options for producers.
She also says the plan laid out by the Biden Administration for Rural America addresses several current issues.
The 2018 Farm Bill impacts the delivery and management of these critical programs and provides guidance and some funding for the agencies’ efforts.
