House Agriculture Committee member, Iowa Congressman Randy Feenstra is disappointed with the direction the $16.1 billion ag stimulus bill took when it passed out of committee this week. He says there was a lot of funding that went to different areas other than what’s needed by farmers and ranchers impacted by the pandemic.
He says two areas left unfunded in the bill that would have helped agriculture included both biofuels and broadband.
Feenstra was pleased however that his amendment calling for funding to help those producers hit by the derecho storm was included in the final measure.
The package passed the House Ag Committee on a party line 25 to 23 vote following a virtual seven hour meeting.
