The House Ag Committee held a hearing on Wednesday on the Implications of Electric Vehicle Investments for Agriculture and Rural America”.  Geoff Cooper, President & CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association testified.

Cooper says it will take several decades for electric vehicles to provide the whole solution to climate change because 99-percent of the current transportation fleet runs on liquid fuels.

He also told the committee the renewable fuels industry realizes EVs are going to be a port of the move to a carbon neutral society, but he says they can’t do it alone by 2050.

Cooper says ethanol is already helping to lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Testimony was also offered by representatives of the auto manufacturers and dealers, petroleum and electric industry.
