Wednesday, the House Agriculture Committee is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the Dodd Frank Legislation assessing the progress of global derivatives reform. South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke says those rules need to be kept in place or strengthened to protect farmers and ranchers.

Sombke says he’s also disappointed one South Dakota Senator is working to loosen those rules in favor of banks. He is also not very optimistic about Congress following through on Dodd Frank protections for producers.

Sombke says their national organization’s leaders will be on hand at the hearing to weigh in on the importance of the Dodd Frank rules.
