House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson talked about industrial hemp while addressing those attending farm fest this week. He says while he supports it, that farmers need to be careful how they get involved with it.

He says producers need to proceed slowly with hemp and make sure there’s processing available for it. Peterson is also concerned if too many farmers start growing it.

Peterson says the CBD issue with hemp also needs to be worked out.

Several states have approved the growing of industrial hemp and the USDA is currently working out the rules.
