South Dakota Governor, Dennis Daugaard, has set Monday, March 30th as “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day” across the state. Vietnam Veteran, Roland Lambert, is President of the South Dakota Vietnam Veterans of America Council and says this day helps to reassure those veterans that the sacrifice they made has not been forgotten.

Lambert says it’s a strange feeling to finally be thanked for their effort during their time in the service.

Lambert says that approximately 23,000 South Dakotans served their country during the Vietnam War, but he’s not sure of how many are still living today.
