Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg has been released from the hospital, less than a week after open-heart surgery.

Hoiberg tweeted a picture of himself being wheeled out of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on Thursday with the caption “it’s been real…thanks for everything!”

Hoiberg had surgery last week to replace his aortic valve. He’s expected to need 4-6 weeks to recover.

Hoiberg retired from the NBA following the 2004-05 season following heart issues. He just completed his fifth season at Iowa State.
