A Senate bill dealing with fees for the Secretary of States office was hoghoused on the House floor and became an effort to eliminate the state sales tax on food.
Representative Jon Hansen of Dell Rapids led the effort…

Representative Scott Odenbach of Spearfish supported the amendment….

Representative Michael Derby of Rapid City says the bill should stay in its original form….

The bill passed on a vote of forty-seven to twenty two and headed back to the Senate where it was quickly killed without much debate or the formation of a conference committee.
