Hispanic Businesses Increasing Quickly in Nebraska

A new report using data from a 2012 business survey claims Hispanic businesses in Nebraska have seen a 97% increase since The Great Recession. Director Lazaro Spindola with the Latino American Business Commission, theorizes the trend might be due to a combination of a youthful Hispanic population and good, old-fashioned, ambition

Spindola says, though the report is good news, barriers still exist within Nebraska’s Hispanic business community; namely, funding and knowledge

Spindola credits Nebraska business assistance organizations with helping many Hispanic businesses get started. He says organizations such as the Small Business Administration and the Rural Enterprise Assistance Project work with ethnic business owners to plan out business strategies.
