South Dakota Highway Patrol Troopers met with livestock producers and truckers attending this week’s Black Hills Stock Show in Rapid City about the Electronic Logging Device rule. Highway Patrol Captain John Broers says they’re clearing up any misunderstandings about the new regulations, which require electronic logging devices in trucks.
He says there are some exemptions for livestock haulers under the ELD rules.
Broers says one common misconception is that the ELD rules will impact those hauling cutting or barrel racing horses.
Broers says in December a 90-day waiver to the regulation was granted to truckers hauling livestock.
