The South Dakota Department of Transportation is moving ahead with the reconstruction of Highway 46 from Highway 81 to the Iowa line.
It’s a project that has been in the works for over fifteen years.
Yankton Area D.O.T Engineer Rod Gall says the project will make Highway 46 safer…
The D.O.T. held an open house in Irene last (Monday) night to explain the project.
Gall says they will be talking to landowners along the route….
Gall says the actual construction won’t start for a couple of years..
The project will be done in phases, with the first segment from Highway 81 to Irene, then from Irene to the Highway 19 intersection, then from there to Beresford, and finally to the Iowa border.
