While school districts in South Dakota have been able to raise the average pay for their teachers on staff, those increases may be helping attract more beginning teachers.

The 2016 legislature increased the sales tax a half cent to give school districts the money they needed to raise teacher pay to an average of about forty-eight thousand dollars a year.
