Medical marijuana supporters are hosting a legislative summit this weekend in Sioux Falls. The South Dakota Medical Marijuana Summit is hosted by South Dakota Compassion, a group dedicated to advocating for legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes. Emmet Reistroffer is a founder and leading spokesperson for the group and says despite opposition, there is some interest in legalizing medical marijuana.

The summit will feature an expert panel discussion, workshops, and resources aimed at educating supporters about medical marijuana use. The ultimate goal of the summit is to bolster support in order to advocate and push for legislation and policies that favor medical marijuana in South Dakota. Reistroffer says legislators have been encouraged to attend.

Anyone interested is invited to the meeting in the Downtown Main Library in Sioux Falls on Saturday at 10 am.
