Hemp Association Pushes for Industrial Development

Hemp Association Pushes for Industrial Development

Nebraska farmers are missing out on a huge opportunity.  That’s according to Bill Alchord, president of the Nebraska Hemp Association.  He says in 2014, lawmakers voted for a pilot program, but that isn’t gaining much momentum.

Now comes the argument that this is the start of legalizing marijuana for medical and recreational use.  Alchord says those making that argument have no idea what industrial hemp is.

Alchord is also disappointed that more isn’t being done to advance the development of growing hemp in Nebraska, saying that farmers are missing out on a huge cash crop.  He says more than half of all states allow some form of industrial hemp, and Nebraska needs to get on-board.
