Hemp industry officials are watching a case in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. At issue is whether the interstate transport of hemp is legal. Nebraska Hemp Association President Bill Achord says the 2018 farm bill made the law clear that it’s o.k. to transport hemp across state lines as long as you have the proper paperwork.

He says as long as hemp transporters are moving the product with proper THC levels and have their documentation in place they’re in line with the law.

Achord says while transporting hemp is allowed, any legalization of hemp itself is up to states.

Achord says they’re moving ahead with hemp in Nebraska as 10 companies are researching the growing of it. He says that was a bit disappointing in that there were 176 applications and only ten approved.
