Another round of hot humid weather will spread across the northern plains this weekend.
That has power distribution companies scrambling to control their peak loads.

Brad Schardin, Manager of Southeastern Electric, based in Marion, says they have been trying to reduce the peak power usage across their system…..

Schardin says while there is no shortage of electricity, the extra power is expensive……

Schardin says they can also see more line and transformer issues with the extreme heat…..Heat

He says their peak power usage can top out at one hundred twenty to one hundred thirty megawatts.
