The Heartland Humane Society is hosting their annual Wine and Whiskers fundraiser on November 8th at Minerva’s in Yankton. Featuring beef and wine tastings, food, and an auction, it’s the biggest fundraiser the HHS holds each year. Kerry Hacecky is the society’s executive director and says their goal for the event is to raise fifty thousand dollars.
The shelter recently moved into a new facility that is still being remodeled. Hacecky says that’s had an impact on their annual budget.
She says the shelter will take in over 400 animals this year and is preparing for 460 animals in 2015. Tickets for the Wine and Whiskers event can be purchased at the shelter and at heartland humane society dot net.
