People that purchase health insurance through the Affordable Health Care Act exchange can expect to pay more for coverage in 2016.
Healthcare policy expert Paul Ketchel says health insurance companies say they have to increase rates because individuals are sicker than expected. He says the design of plans is also driving up costs because they have to carry certain packages to meet AHC requirements.
He says employers that provide coverage for workers are also seeing big increases and many may be forced to cancel that benefit forcing more people to seek coverage on the exchange.
