A Yankton lawyer who heads up the Mental Health Board went before the County Commission to ask for a rate increase.

Lucy Lewno (lou-know) says she reviews each involuntary admit to the state Human Services Center in Yankton, and bills the home county of the patient…..

Lewno says there are a number of counties that don’t pay for her legal services…..

Lewno says she has not made an issue yet of the nonpaying counties…..

Lewno says she wants to raise the hourly rate to one hundred dollars from the current ninety. She says cases range from twenty to forty a month.
