Colorful sunrises and sunsets, hazy skies and an occasional whiff of smoke, it’s all related to massive fires far to our north in Canada.
Duncan MacDonnell (mack-da-nell’) is with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in the Province of Alberta. He says they have a number of fires still burning…
Mac Donnell says they have had a lot of mostly forest burned so far this year…

MacDonnell says they attempt to get to each fire at some point, and have a lot of equipment and people on the fire lines…
MacDonnell says fire is a normal part of the forest regrowth process. Their fire season runs until the first snows, usually in October. Other major fires are burning in Saskatchewan and Alaska.
