Hastings College sits atop both of the Great Plains Athletic Conference preseason soccer polls.
– The Hastings men, after posting a 20-4 record in 2013, have been selected by the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) men’s soccer coaches’ as the favorite for the 2014 GPAC men’s soccer season.
The Bronco men totaled 99 points and nine first place votes in the poll. Hastings posted a league record of 9-1 in 2013 en route to the GPAC regular season title. Midland, last year’s GPAC tournament champion, was picked second with 91 points and the two first place votes. Doane and Northwestern each had 77 points, to tie for third in the poll.
The Hastings women, after posting a 16-5-1 record in 2013, have been selected by the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) women’s soccer coaches’ as the favorite to win the 2014 GPAC women’s soccer regular season title.
The Broncos, winners of the GPAC tournament in 2013, totaled 98 points and eight first place votes in the poll. Hastings posted a league record of 9-1 in 2013. Morningside, last season’s regular season champion with a record of 9-0-1, was tabbed to finish second with 85 points and two first place votes. Midland was third in the balloting of the league coaches’ with 80 points, while Nebraska Wesleyan was fourth with 71 points.
