Hastings Takes GPAC Volleyball

The 2017 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Volleyball Tournament wrapped up with the top seed Hastings defeating third seed Dordt 3-1 on Saturday night in Hastings, Nebraska.

The third-ranked Broncos jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after a 25-14 win in the opening set before hanging on for a 26-24 win in the second set. The fifth-ranked Defenders didn’t go quietly, picking up a 25-17 win in the third set.

A thrilling fourth set saw the Defenders take leads of 19-9 and 21-13 before the defending National Champion Broncos came storming back to get the win 29-27. Katie Placke paced the Broncos with 20 kills on the night while Ema Altena had a match high 21 kills for Dordt.
