Hastings College, champions of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) regular season in 2013, is the coaches’ choice to win the 2014 GPAC softball title.  The Broncos totaled 95 points and six first place votes in the preseason poll.   Hastings posted a 29-14 record last spring while posting a 16-4 record in the GPAC.

Morningside, winners of the GPAC postseason last year, is picked second with 91 points and four first place votes.  The Mustangs posted a record of 31-16.  Midland and Northwestern were picked third and fourth with 75 and 73 points respectively and Midland tallied the last first place vote.

The GPAC softball season will consist of 20 games (10 doubleheaders) and conclude with the GPAC Postseason Tournament on May 1-3 at the Smith Softball Complex in Hastings, Nebraska.

Points were assigned on a 10-1 basis and coaches’ could not vote for their own team.
