Hastings Claims Volleyball Title

The 2016 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Volleyball Tournament wrapped up on Saturday, November 12, with championship action. 

Top seeded Hastings claimed the title with a win over second seeded Midland, 3-1. 

The Warriors jumped out and took the opening set 25-17, but then it was all Broncos. Hastings won the next three sets with ease, 25-20, 20-16, 20-15, in a battle of teams ranked in the top five in the NAIA. 

It was the third meeting for Hastings and Midland this season. The two have split matches the earlier in the season with with each team winning 3-1 on each other’s home court.  

Both teams will advance to the 2016 NAIA National Volleyball Championship. Hastings will receive the GPAC regular season automatic berth and Midland gets the second GPAC automatic berth as they are playing Hastings in the final match of the postseason GPAC tournament.
