Harvest progress is picking up nationally and in states like Nebraska. USDA’s crop progress report indicated the U.S. soybean harvest is at 21-percent verses the 16-percent average. In Nebraska soybeans harvest is at 13-percent right in line with the normal pace. Mike Hingst farms near Allen, Nebraska. He says his beans are 10 days from being ready, but he’s expecting better yields than last year.
Corn harvest nationally is at 18-percent vs the 23-percent 5-year average. In Nebraska the harvest was slowed with last week’s rains and sits at 10-percent, which is 6-percent behind average. Hingst is very optimistic about record yields on his corn this season with the mild pollination weather and ample moisture.
Hingst says disease pressure has also been very light in his corn and with the use of fungicide he beat the early onset of white mold in his soybeans.
