Harvest Calls for Increased Farm Safety Awareness

It’s harvest time and one of the hazards producers need to be aware of this week and all year long is the possible danger around and inside grain bins. University of Minnesota Extension Educator Emily Krekelberg says entrapment and deaths in grain bins are the highest in the Northern Plains.

She says precautionary steps around bins may take time but having a harness on if one goes inside the bin is a must.

Krekelberg says many dangers can be avoided around grain bins by having a good safety plan in place.

Krekelberg advises producers to slow down, think twice and be safe.
