Gun Permits Jumping in Nebraska

It appears that more Nebraskans are getting ready to arm themselves after the attacks in Paris and in San Bernardino. Douglas County Sheriff Tim Dunning says the number of people applying for gun permits is skyrocketing….

Dunning says the permit to purchase guns is only good for three years and many of the people that are coming in to the office now are there for renewals. When it comes to carrying concealed weapons, Sheriff Dunning says he encourages those who have a permit to carry weapons with them. He says there is only so much law enforcement out there and sometimes the first line of defense is yourself……

Dunning says right after the Sandy Hook shooting, they received 1,275 gun permit applications in December of 2012 and 1,681 in January of 2013.
