Applications for conceal carry pistol permits in South Dakota are continuing at a record pace in 2016.

Secretary of State Shantel Krebs says the numbers spiked late last year, and the high number of applications has continued into the first two months of this year….

Krebs says her office does not approve or deny the application—it only processes it after it’s been addressed at the local level….

Krebs told the Watertown Kiwanis Club that Pennington and Minnehaha counties rank among the top 100 counties in the nation for the number of conceal carry permits that have been issued.
