The State of South Dakota began collecting sales taxes from online retailers on November first, but there has been no clear report yet on how much has come in.
Estimates have ranged from ten to fifty million dollars a year.
Representative Ryan Cwach of Yankton says based on personal experience, he thinks the returns will be on the high side…
The first two hundred thousand dollars in sales from an online retailer is exempt from the tax. Cwach says that may need to change..
Cwach took part in his first District 18 legislative forum on Saturday.
