Sophomore Madison Guebert was named The Summit League Player of the Week Monday for the first time after helping the South Dakota State women’s basketball team to a 2-0 week.
The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 25 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game with a 2.3 assist to turnover ratio. Guebert also shot 69.6 percent from the field, 61.5 percent from 3-point range and 76.9 percent from the free-throw line.
In the 72-63 win at Denver Jan. 18, Guebert recorded her first collegiate 30-plus point game, scoring the sixth-most points in a game at SDSU with a game-high 32 points. She was 11 of 12 from the floor, 4 of 5 from 3-point range and 6 of 7 from the foul line. The field goals and five assists were career highs.
Guebert tallied a game-high 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and 4 assists in the 73-58 victory over Western Illinois Jan. 21.
